Forensic architecture:
Interesting way to prove human rights violations with the help of technology. It's a initiative that actually gets things done by presenting to the UN and courtrooms. Great work.
HOW DO I RESEARCH QUESTION
- Don't ask a yes/no question
- Make a question specific to a field of study or a group of people. This helps in looking for sources
- Don't linger too much and start doing
Examples
Weak: how does sugar effect people
Strong: How does sugar effect migraines in post menopausal women
Identify gaps in literature, what questions remain unanswered? Can you answer them?
Grenfell Tower
- Using crowdsourced mobile footage to get more insight into the incident
- Tools used: projection mapping, 3D modelling, motion tracking
I bet a lot of bystanders, family and friends get comfort from this. It reminds me of Aircrash Investigation in which they also try to figure out how a plane crashed under mysterious circumstances. I loved watching those shows because of the 3D renders and reconstructions of the events. It gives so much more depth and understanding into a subject also creates empathy for the victims to know what they have been through in those last moments.
What if a critical voice in history is taken out of the canon due to being cancelled?
Kesselskramer -> pier15
Hannah Gadsby - who gets cancelled/is denounced and who still performs
What are the power dynamics in cancel culture?
Modern day witch hunt, book burnings
Often commentary from people who haven't immersed themselves in a subject, follow others
Criticism isn't said to someone's face, it's easier on the internet
If the debate is killed and people are cancelled due to morally wrong opinions, there is no progression. No ideas are formed if everyone is scared to speak out
